Extruded Polystyrene (XPS - Rigid Foam Insulation)

XPS

“The closed-cell fortress against heat and moisture: the rigid, high-strength insulation for demanding applications.” Arnico’s Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) is the rigid, closed-cell foam board that provides superior, long-term thermal performance and exceptional compressive strength where it matters most. Engineered through a continuous extrusion process, its uniform cell structure makes it virtually waterproof, making it the ideal solution for inverted roofs, below-grade foundations, cold storage facilities, and heavy-traffic floor applications. For engineers and builders who need an insulation that can withstand load, moisture, and time, our XPS is the impermeable, high-strength foundation of a durable building envelope.
Description More

1. Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) is a rigid, closed-cell foam in blue, green, or pink colors, produced by the extrusion of molten polystyrene with blowing agents. This next-generation thermal and moisture insulator, due to its high compressive strength and virtually zero water absorption, is the ideal choice for inverted roof insulation, cold storage, industrial flooring, and underground structures.

3. Features & Benefits

  • Exceptional Compressive Strength: Bears the heavy loads of industrial floors, parking decks, and airport runways without settling.

  • Virtually Zero Water Absorption: Performs flawlessly in fully wet and inverted applications (green roofs and behind retaining walls).

  • Stable Thermal Insulation: Maintains its Lambda coefficient over its entire service life due to its complete closed-cell structure.

  • Freeze-Thaw Cycle Resistance: Dimensional stability and durability under harsh weather conditions.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Roof Insulation: Inverted insulation over asphalt and bitumen waterproofing membranes.

  • Building & Civil Engineering: Insulation for retaining walls, cold storage underfloor heating, and warehouse floors.

  • Road Construction: A frost-protection layer in roads and airport runways.

  • Refrigeration Industry: Walls and ceilings of sub-zero cold storage facilities.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): The solid material is safe. Cutting dust is an irritant. It melts and burns in a fire. The Arnico MSDS file must be obtained.

  • Storage Conditions: Store away from prolonged direct UV radiation (which causes yellowing and surface powdering) and organic solvents.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): When cutting, the use of a P2 mask and safety goggles is recommended.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

Arnico XPS shipments are accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing the density, compressive strength, and thermal conductivity coefficient.

Technical documents for the product XPS including the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA), are available to customers upon request.
