Product Introduction & Main Application
Arnico’s Sulfur Coated Urea (SCU) is a controlled-release nitrogen fertilizer produced by encapsulating a prilled urea core with layers of molten sulfur and a wax-based sealant. This technology transforms highly soluble urea into an “intelligent” nutrient source that releases nitrogen slowly over 90-120 days. SCU is ideal for minimizing nitrogen loss from leaching and volatilization in paddy rice, pastures, turf, and extensive field crops.

3. Features & Benefits
Controlled-Release Mechanism: Nitrogen release is dictated by soil temperature and moisture, matching the plant’s uptake pattern and reducing luxury consumption.
Secondary Sulfur Nutrition: Provides a vital dose of plant-available sulfur that is essential for protein and oil synthesis in crops like canola and soybeans.
Maximized Nitrogen Use Efficiency: Reduces ammonia volatilization and nitrate leaching by up to 40%, protecting groundwater and increasing yield per unit of nitrogen applied.
Single Application Economy: One baseline application replaces multiple split applications of ordinary urea, saving labor, fuel, and equipment costs.
Improved Seedling Safety: Lowers the risk of salt burn and ammonia toxicity near germinating seeds compared to the direct application of standard urea.
4. Industrial Applications
Professional Turf Management: Golf courses, sports fields, and public parks for sustained, green color without mowing flushes.
Irrigated Rice: Ideal for paddy fields where underwater conditions cause rapid nitrogen loss from standard urea.
Dryland Farming: Winter wheat and barley in low-rainfall areas where split application during tillering is impossible.
Sugarcane & Corn: Provides a steady N supply for the long 4-6 month vegetative growth period.
5. Safety & Handling
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This product is non-flammable. The full MSDS is available from Arnico support.
Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry environment. Mechanical damage to the sulfur coating (attrition) can accelerate the release rate. Minimize long drop heights during handling.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Standard PPE for granular fertilizer handling is required: gloves and safety glasses.
6. Quality Assurance & COA
Arnico provides a Certificate of Analysis and a 7-day dissolution rate curve with each shipment of SCU, validating the controlled-release mechanism and total nutrient content for your quality assurance records.
