Raffinate (C6-C7 Paraffinic / Naphthenic Solvent & Feed)

Raffinate

“The pure, aromatic-free C6-C7 stream: the clean feed for maximum olefin yields and high-purity solvents.” Arnico’s Raffinate is the clear, high-purity, fully saturated hydrocarbon stream that is the valuable co-product from the BTX extraction process. Completely free of aromatics, olefins, and sulfur, it is composed almost entirely of paraffins and naphthenes. This makes it the ideal, clean feedstock for petrochemical steam crackers, where it delivers maximum ethylene and propylene yields without coking, and a premium, low-toxicity solvent for industrial and extraction applications. For those who need a pure, predictable, and efficient C6-C7 stream, our raffinate is the premium choice.
Description More

1. Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Raffinate is a clear, completely saturated (aromatic-free) hydrocarbon stream, obtained as a by-product of the BTX extraction units from reformate. This material, consisting mainly of C6-C7 paraffins and naphthenes, is, due to its high purity and lack of olefins and sulfur, an ideal feedstock for petrochemical steam crackers (for light olefin production), the production of specialty paraffinic solvents, and a carrier in the chemical industry.

2. Technical Specifications

3. Features & Benefits

  • Exceptionally High Paraffinic/Naphthenic Purity: Converts to light olefins (ethylene, propylene) with maximum yield and minimal heavy by-products and soot.

  • Free from Catalyst Poisons: Lacks sulfur, olefins, and aromatics, which extends the life of cracking catalysts.

  • A Clean & Safe Solvent: An excellent replacement for hexane and aromatic solvents with lower toxicity and a milder odor.

  • High Chemical Stability: Non-reactive, preventing the formation of gums or peroxides.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Petrochemicals: A premium feedstock for steam crackers to produce olefins.

  • Solvent Production: A solvent in adhesives, resins, paints, and vegetable oil extraction.

  • Chemical Industry: A diluent and carrier in polymerization and catalytic processes.

  • Fuel: Blending into gasoline to adjust volatility.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This liquid is highly flammable and volatile. Its vapors are heavier than air and explosive. Inhalation causes dizziness. The Arnico MSDS file must be obtained.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in nitrogen-pressurized tanks, in a cool environment, away from heat and sparks.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Anti-static clothing, Viton gloves, and a respirator with an AX filter are required.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

Arnico Raffinate shipments are accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing the GC analysis and aromatics content

Technical documents for the product Raffinate including the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA), are available to customers upon request.
