Polyether Polyol

Polyol

“The molecular backbone of polyurethane innovation; from rigid insulation to flexible comfort.” Arnico’s Polyol is where polyurethane chemistry begins. As a premium polyether polyol with controlled hydroxyl functionality and molecular weight, it is the essential building block for creating high-performance PU foams. Whether for energy-saving rigid insulation or luxurious flexible furniture, our polyols provide the consistent reactivity and reliable properties that manufacturers depend on.
Description More

1. Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Polyol is a polyether resin with multiple hydroxyl groups and a controlled molecular weight, serving as the primary alcohol-side raw material in the production of polyurethane (PU) foams. This foundational product plays a crucial role in determining the density, flexibility, and mechanical properties of both rigid and flexible foams for the construction, automotive, and refrigeration industries.

3. Features & Benefits

  • Excellent Thermal & Hydrolytic Stability: The final foam exhibits high resistance to degradation in high-temperature and high-humidity environments.

  • Consistent Reactivity: Precise molecular engineering ensures a controlled foaming reaction, free from irregular cell structures or voids.

  • Optimized Flowability: Ideal viscosity for completely filling complex molds before the gel stage is reached.

  • Blowing Agent Compatibility: Excellent miscibility with a wide range of physical (HCFC/HFC) and chemical (water) blowing agents to achieve target densities.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Building Insulation: Production of rigid polyurethane foam for sandwich panels and spray-applied roof and wall insulation.

  • Refrigeration Industry: The primary insulating material in the manufacture of domestic refrigerators, industrial freezers, and cold storage facilities.

  • Furniture & Mattresses: The key raw material for molded and slabstock flexible foams used in comfort furniture and orthopedic mattresses.

  • Automotive Industry: Production of seat cushions, headrests, steering wheels, and acoustic insulation components.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This substance generally has low acute toxicity but may produce irritating vapors at high temperatures. Please refer to the Arnico MSDS for complete information.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in tightly closed, completely dry containers, away from moisture and heat sources, at a temperature of +10°C to +30°C. Water ingress must be strictly prevented (risk of decomposition upon prolonged contact with moisture).

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Use of local exhaust ventilation, safety goggles, and chemical-resistant gloves (neoprene) is mandatory during sampling and decanting.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

Arnico Polyol shipments are always accompanied by a precise COA detailing the exact hydroxyl value range and molecular weight distribution curve. This allows foam formulators to easily calculate the correct stoichiometric ratios with isocyanate.

Technical documents for the product Polyol including the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA), are available to customers upon request.
