Polyacrylamide (PAM)

Polyacrylamide

“The ultimate flocculant for solid-liquid separation; engineered polymer chains for maximum efficiency.” Arnico’s Polyacrylamide (PAM) represents the gold standard in water-soluble polymers. With a high molecular weight and precisely controlled ionic charge density, our PAM grades are designed to deliver rapid flocculation, superior sludge dewatering, and exceptional water clarification. It’s not just a chemical; it’s a performance-driven solution for demanding industrial separation processes.
Description More

1. Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a high molecular weight, linear water-soluble polymer available in anionic, cationic, and non-ionic grades. Serving as a powerful flocculant, coagulant, and viscosity enhancer, this material plays a critical role in water treatment and solid-liquid separation processes, helping to reduce sludge volume and improve the efficiency of industrial systems.

3. Features & Benefits

  • Rapid & Robust Flocculation: Forms large, dense, and shear-resistant flocs, dramatically increasing settling velocity and separation efficiency.

  • Ultra-Low Dosage Requirement: Delivers high performance at very low concentrations (a few ppm), leading to significant economic savings.

  • Excellent Solubility: The powder is specifically designed for rapid dissolution without the formation of “fish-eyes” (unhydrated gel lumps) in water.

  • Grade Versatility: Anionic grades are tailored for mineral-rich, positively charged effluents, while cationic grades target organic, negatively charged biological sludges.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Water & Wastewater Treatment: Primary separating agent for municipal and industrial sludge in centrifuges and filter presses.

  • Mining & Flotation: Improves tailings settling and enables efficient water recovery from mineral thickeners.

  • Paper Industry: Acts as a retention and drainage aid for fibers and fillers, and as a flocculant for mill wastewater.

  • Oil & Gas Drilling: Enhances drilling fluid viscosity (EOR) and reduces fluid loss into the formation.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): The dry powder is non-toxic, but wetted surfaces become extremely slippery. Complete MSDS documentation is available upon request.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in a dry, cool place (below 30°C), away from moisture and freezing conditions. Opened bags must be resealed in airtight, moisture-resistant containers.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): When handling the powder, the use of a dust mask and safety goggles is recommended. Avoid wearing smooth-soled shoes.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

All Arnico Polyacrylamide grades are supplied with a unique Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing precise viscosity, dissolution time, and ionic charge percentage, enabling customers to achieve the optimal match for their sludge dewatering process.

Technical documents for the product Polyacrylamide including the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA), are available to customers upon request.
