High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE - Pipe, Blow & Injection Grades)

HDPE

“The strong, dense polymer: the rigid backbone of safe water pipes, tough bottles, and durable industrial containers.” Arnico’s HDPE is the high-density, semi-crystalline thermoplastic that provides the strength, chemical resistance, and durability required for the world’s most demanding applications. From PE100 pipe that guarantees a 50-year service life for pressurized water and gas networks, to the tough, lightweight bottles for milk and chemicals, our bimodal grades offer the perfect balance of stiffness, toughness, and processability. For critical infrastructure, industrial packaging, and everyday durable goods, our HDPE is the material of choice.
Description More

1. Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic with a high density (0.94-0.97 g/cm³) and a milky-white appearance, produced by the catalytic, low-pressure polymerization of ethylene. This grade, with its high tensile strength, hardness, and chemical resistance, is the primary material for producing water and gas pipes, milk and detergent bottles, automotive fuel tanks, industrial crates, and rigid containers.

3. Features & Benefits

  • PE100 Pipe Grade: Outstanding hydrostatic strength with an MRS of 10 MPa, guaranteeing a 50-year service life.

  • High ESCR (Pipe Grade): Exceptional Environmental Stress Crack Resistance, the main cause of premature failure in polyethylene pipes.

  • Excellent Processability: A bimodal molecular weight distribution provides an ideal combination of strength and flowability.

  • Chemical Inertness: Unaffected by most acids, alkalis, and salt solutions.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Pipes & Fittings: Municipal water networks, gas distribution, industrial effluent, and drip irrigation.

  • Bottles & Packaging: Milk, beverage, and liquid detergent bottles.

  • Injection Molded Parts: Buckets, bottle crates, fruit boxes, chairs, and automotive parts.

  • Industrial Tanks: Water and chemical storage tanks up to 20,000 liters.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): The granules are non-toxic and safe. Paraffinic vapors are released at melt temperatures. The Arnico MSDS file must be obtained.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in 25kg bags in a covered, dry warehouse, away from prolonged direct sunlight.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Gloves for handling hot granules.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

Arnico HDPE shipments are accompanied by a complete Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing the MFI, density, and ESCR.

Technical documents for the product HDPE including the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA), are available to customers upon request.
