Coated & Uncoated Calcium Carbonate (CaCO₃)

Coated & Uncoated Calcium Carbonate

“The silent workhorse of industrial formulations; more than a filler, it’s the foundation of quality and economy.”Arnico delivers ultra-fine, high-whiteness Calcium Carbonate in both pristine uncoated and surface-treated coated grades. Engineered for masterbatch, plastics, paints, and adhesives, our CaCO₃ provides exceptional dispersion and mechanical strength. The stearic acid coating on our coated grade ensures unparalleled compatibility with non-polar polymer matrices, reducing formulation costs while significantly enhancing the performance and finish of the final product.
Description More

Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Calcium Carbonate (CaCO₃) is a high-purity, white mineral filler available in two distinct forms: uncoated (natural ground) and coated (surface-treated with stearic acid). It serves as a cost-effective performance enhancer, improving the mechanical properties, opacity, and surface finish of end products. The coated grade is specifically designed for superior dispersion and hydrophobicity in plastics, rubber, and solvent-based systems, while the uncoated grade is ideal for water-based paints, paper, and construction materials.

3. Features & Benefits

  • Enhanced Dispersion (Coated Grade): The stearic acid layer reduces agglomeration and provides excellent compatibility with polyolefins (PE, PP) and PVC, leading to a smoother surface finish.

  • High Whiteness & Opacity: Elevates the brightness and covering power of paints, coatings, and paper, reducing the need for expensive TiO₂.

  • Improved Mechanical Properties: Increases the stiffness, impact resistance, and dimensional stability of plastic parts and profiles.

  • Cost Efficiency: A high-performance extender that significantly lowers the raw material cost per kilogram of the final compound.

  • Chemical Inertness: Provides excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, and weathering, ensuring long-term product durability.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Masterbatch & Plastics: Functional filler in PE, PP, and PVC masterbatches for blown film, injection molding, and pipe extrusion.

  • Paints & Coatings: Primary extender pigment in architectural, industrial, and traffic paints.

  • Adhesives & Sealants: Rheology modifier and filler in tile adhesives, mastics, and silicone sealants.

  • Paper Manufacturing: Filler and coating pigment to improve paper brightness, opacity, and printability.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This product is considered a nuisance dust. The complete MSDS file is available on the Arnico support portal.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in a dry, covered warehouse. Keep bags sealed, away from moisture, and stacked on pallets to prevent caking.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Use a certified dust mask (N95), safety goggles, and work gloves during handling to prevent dust inhalation and skin contact.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

All Arnico Calcium Carbonate shipments include a detailed Certificate of Analysis (COA) confirming purity, whiteness, particle size distribution, and coating percentage, ensuring batch-to-batch consistency for your critical formulations.
