Product Introduction & Main Application
Arnico’s Slack Wax is a semi-solid, yellowish mixture of oil and paraffin wax obtained from the solvent dewaxing of lube oil raffinates. It is classified into Light (higher oil content) and Heavy (lower oil content) grades based on its melting point and oil percentage. Slack wax is the fundamental raw material for manufacturing fully and semi-refined paraffin waxes, petroleum jelly, and a range of waterproofing and conditioning products.

3. Features & Benefits
High Wax Yield: Heavy grade with low oil content is an ideal economic feedstock for de-oiling plants to produce high-purity paraffin wax.
Versatile Base Material: The light grade’s higher oil content gives it a softer consistency ideal for petroleum jelly and emulsions.
Excellent Crystalline Structure: Forms uniform, small crystals that are essential for a smooth, opaque surface on coated paper and cardboard.
Defined Physical Properties: Controlled melting point ensures consistent performance in hot-melt adhesives, candle making, and investment casting patterns.
Bulk Logistic Efficiency: Transported in heated tank trucks, flexi-tanks, or as solid slabs in jumbo bags.
4. Industrial Applications
Paraffin Wax Refining: The primary feedstock for plants producing fully-refined paraffin wax with oil content below 0.5%.
Candle Industry: A critical component in formulating candle bodies, allowing for consistent burning and color retention.
Paper & Packaging: Water-resistant barrier coating for fruit boxes, corrugated meat packs, and paper cups.
Match Manufacturing: A saturant for matchsticks to ensure a controlled and steady burn.
5. Safety & Handling
MSDS: This product is a combustible solid when heated. Full MSDS is available upon request.
Storage Conditions: Store solidified or in liquid form at 20-30°C above its melting point. Avoid overheating to prevent thermal cracking and discoloration.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hot liquid poses a burn risk. Use heat-resistant gloves and a face shield during melt-out and transfer.
6. Quality Assurance & COA
Arnico supplies Slack Wax with a comprehensive Certificate of Analysis (COA), including oil content (ASTM D721), melting point, and color. Custom blends of Light and Heavy grades can be offered to meet your specific manufacturing process.
