Polyethylene (PE - HDPE, LDPE & LLDPE Grades)

Polyethylene

“The world’s most used plastic family: from flexible films that protect our food to rigid pipes that deliver our water.” Arnico’s Polyethylene (PE) is the family of thermoplastic polymers that is, by volume, the most widely used plastic on the planet. Supplied as translucent granules, our portfolio includes High-Density (HDPE) for rigid pipes and bottles, Low-Density (LDPE) for flexible films and bags, and Linear Low-Density (LLDPE) for ultra-strong stretch wrap. With its unique combination of toughness, chemical resistance, and electrical insulation, our PE is the fundamental material behind modern packaging, safe infrastructure, and countless everyday products.
Description More

1. Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Polyethylene (PE) is the world’s most widely used thermoplastic, supplied as milky-white translucent granules, produced from the polymerization of ethylene gas under controlled pressure and temperature. This engineered polymer family includes High-Density (HDPE), Low-Density (LDPE), and Linear Low-Density (LLDPE) grades, which, due to their affordable price, chemical resistance, electrical insulation, and easy processability, are used in packaging, pipe manufacturing, tanks, and thousands of other products.

2. Technical Specifications (Example: LLDPE Film Grade)

Technical Parameter Film Grade (LLDPE) Injection Grade (HDPE) Unit
Melt Flow Index (MFI 190/2.16) 0.9 – 1.1 8.0 – 12.0 g/10min
Density 0.918 – 0.922 0.952 – 0.956 g/cm³
Tensile Strength at Yield ≥ 11 ≥ 25 MPa
Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (ESCR) > 1000 > 10 hours
Vicat Softening Point 90 – 95 120 – 125 °C

3. Features & Benefits

  • LLDPE Film: Excellent tensile strength and tear resistance in thin films, ideal for stretch and heavy-duty packaging.

  • HDPE Injection: High flowability and a fast cycle time for producing high-precision parts.

  • Exceptional Chemical Resistance: Inert to acids, bases, solvents, and moisture.

  • Hygienic & Food Safe (Food Grade): Odorless, tasteless, and has FDA and EFSA approvals for food contact.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Packaging: Shrink film, stretch film, freezer bags, and milk bottles.

  • Pipes & Fittings: Water and gas distribution pipes, and drip irrigation tape.

  • Consumer Goods: Buckets, fruit crates, toys, and household appliances.

  • Industrial Containers: Drums and tanks for chemical storage.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): The granules are inert, but dust is an irritant. Vapors are released at processing temperatures. The Arnico MSDS file must be obtained.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in 25kg bags or big bags in a dry, cool warehouse, away from direct light and heat.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Gloves for handling hot product.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

Arnico PE shipments are accompanied by a specialized Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing the MFI, density, and mechanical properties.

Technical documents for the product Polyethylene including the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA), are available to customers upon request.
