Light Hydrocarbon (C5-C6 / Light Ends - Petrochemical Feed & Solvent)

Light Hydrocarbon

“The volatile, high-yield C5-C6 stream: the premium petrochemical feed for maximum ethylene and propylene.” Arnico’s Light Hydrocarbon is the highly volatile, paraffin-rich C5-C6 fraction that is a premium feedstock for the world’s steam crackers. Sourced from crude oil and condensates, its high n-pentane and iso-pentane content delivers the maximum possible yield of ethylene and propylene—the fundamental building blocks of plastics. It also serves as a fast-evaporating, residue-free solvent for oil extraction, and as the essential blowing agent for polystyrene foam. For efficiency-seeking petrochemical producers, our light ends provide the ultimate cracker feed.
Description More

1. Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Light Hydrocarbon is a very volatile, flammable hydrocarbon fraction with a distillation range of 30°C to 90°C, primarily consisting of pentanes, hexanes, and their isomers. This product, obtained from crude oil and gas condensate distillation, is used as a feedstock for steam crackers to produce olefins, as an industrial solvent for oil extraction and adhesive production, and as a blowing agent in the production of polystyrene foams.

3. Features & Benefits

  • High Olefin Yield Feedstock: The petrochemical grade, with a minimal aromatic content, provides the highest conversion rate to ethylene and propylene.

  • High Volatility & Selective Solvent: Fast, residue-free evaporation, making it ideal for oil extraction and degreasing.

  • Effective Blowing Agent: A safer replacement for CFCs in the production of insulation foams (EPS/XPS).

  • Ultra-Low Sulfur: Protects the expensive catalysts in cracking units.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Petrochemicals: Feedstock for steam crackers to produce ethylene and propylene.

  • Chemical Industry: A solvent in extraction and synthesis processes.

  • Polymer & Foam Industry: A blowing agent in the production of EPS and XPS foam blocks.

  • Fuel: Blending into gasoline pools to adjust vapor pressure.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This liquid is extremely flammable and volatile. Its vapors are heavier than air, explosive, and inhalation is hazardous. The Arnico MSDS is mandatory.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in pressurized spherical tanks or floating-roof tanks with a vapor recovery system, in a completely cool environment, away from sparks.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Anti-static clothing and shoes, a respirator with an AX filter, and Viton gloves are required.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

Arnico Light Hydrocarbon shipments are accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis (COA) with a precise GC analysis.

Technical documents for the product Light Hydrocarbon including the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA), are available to customers upon request.
