Industrial Carbon Black (Furnace Grades N330, N660)

Carbon Black

“The nano-sized reinforcer: the black powder that gives tires their strength, inks their depth, and plastics their UV shield.” Arnico’s Carbon Black is the high-performance, ultra-fine powder produced from the controlled combustion of heavy hydrocarbons. It is the essential reinforcing agent that transforms soft rubber into durable, abrasion-resistant tires, and the deep black pigment that gives color to inks, paints, and plastics. For industries that demand the highest levels of reinforcement, UV protection, and jet-black color, our Carbon Black is the fundamental, invisible structural additive.
Description More

1. Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Industrial Carbon Black is a very fine, black powder produced from the incomplete, controlled combustion of heavy hydrocarbons in the Furnace Black process. This substance is primarily used as a reinforcing agent in the rubber and tire industry, dramatically increasing the abrasion resistance and tensile strength of rubber, and as a black pigment in paints, inks, and plastics.

3. Features & Benefits

  • High Reinforcement (N330): Provides the highest abrasion resistance for tire treads, extending their service life.

  • Easy Processing & Smooth Extrusion (N660): Excellent dispersion in the rubber matrix and a smooth surface on extruded parts.

  • UV Protection: Provides complete absorption of ultraviolet light, preventing the photo-degradation of polymers.

  • Deep Hiding Power & Jetness: The standard black pigment in the paint and ink industries.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Tire Industry: Tire treads (N220, N330), carcasses, and sidewalls (N550, N660).

  • Rubber Parts: Conveyor belts, hoses, gloves, and anti-vibration mounts.

  • Plastics Industry: Coloring and UV protection for polyethylene parts and agricultural films.

  • Printing & Packaging: The primary pigment in black printing inks and toners.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This substance is non-toxic, but its dust is a mechanical lung irritant. It is classified by IARC as a Group 2B (possible human carcinogen). The Arnico MSDS file must be obtained.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in sturdy bags on pallets, in a covered, dry warehouse, away from direct sunlight and moisture.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): A P3 (N100) respirator, safety goggles, and work clothes are required.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

Arnico Carbon Black shipments are accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing the iodine number, OAN, and BET surface area.

Technical documents for the product Carbon Black including the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA), are available to customers upon request.
