1. Product Introduction & Main Application
Arnico’s Heavy Alkyl Benzene (HAB) is a viscous, clear, oily liquid obtained from the distillation bottoms of the LAB production process, featuring longer and more branched alkyl chains (C14+). This product, thanks to its excellent thermal and oxidation stability, is used as a dielectric base oil in transformers, a process oil in the rubber and plastics industries, and a lubricant in specialty formulations.

3. Features & Benefits
-
Excellent Dielectric Stability: Superior insulating properties and resistance to degradation at the high operating temperatures of transformers.
-
High Oxidation & Thermal Stability: Prevents the formation of sludge and acid over the long service life of equipment.
-
Polymer Compatibility: Acts as a plasticizer and improves the mixing process in tire and rubber component manufacturing.
-
Very Low Pour Point: Guarantees reliable performance at low temperatures for outdoor transformers.
4. Industrial Applications
-
Electrical & Electronics Industry: A dielectric fluid in power and distribution transformers and capacitors.
-
Rubber & Tire Industry: An extender and process oil and a softening agent.
-
Lubricant Industry: A base fluid for high-temperature greases and industrial oils.
-
Chemical Industry: A solvent and carrier in specialty formulations.
5. Safety & Handling
-
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This material is a mild skin irritant. Hot oil poses a burn risk. The Arnico MSDS file must be obtained.
-
Storage Conditions: Store in clean, dry tanks, away from moisture, at ambient temperature. Filtration is recommended before use for the transformer grade.
-
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): When handling hot material, the use of heat-resistant gloves and safety goggles is required.
6. Quality Assurance & COA
Arnico HAB shipments are accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing the viscosity, flash point, and dielectric breakdown voltage (for the transformer grade).
