1. Product Introduction & Main Application
Arnico’s Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) is a clear, colorless liquid with a sweet, pungent odor, produced from the reaction of acetylene with acetic acid, or ethylene with acetic acid. This high-volume monomer is the primary raw material for the production of Polyvinyl Acetate (PVA) and its copolymers, which are used as wood glue (white glue), the base for architectural emulsion paints, and paper and textile coating resins.

3. Features & Benefits
-
Excellent Reactivity in Radical & Emulsion Polymerization: Produces stable, clear latices with superior adhesion.
-
Guaranteed Polymer Purity: Minimal acetic acid and methyl acetate content allows for precise pH control and reaction stability.
-
Forms a Soft, Clear Film (PVA & Copolymers): The excellent film-forming property is the basis for white wood glues and plastic paints.
-
Solubility & Compatibility: Excellent miscibility with other monomers (ethylene, acrylates) to create specific final properties.
4. Industrial Applications
-
Adhesive Industry: The primary ingredient in white wood glue (PVA) and packaging adhesives.
-
Paint Industry: The resin binder in plastic and semi-gloss architectural paints.
-
Paper & Packaging Industry: A durable, glossy coating for cardboard.
-
Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVOH) Production: The raw material for water-soluble fibers and films.
5. Safety & Handling
-
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This liquid is extremely flammable and an irritant. Its vapors are heavier than air and explosive. The Arnico MSDS file must be obtained.
-
Storage Conditions: Store in stainless steel or aluminum tanks, under a nitrogen blanket, at a temperature of 20-30°C, away from light, heat, and peroxides.
-
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): A full-face respirator with an AX filter, Viton gloves, and anti-static clothing are required.
6. Quality Assurance & COA
Arnico VAM shipments are accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing the GC breakdown and the inhibitor level.
