Triethylene Glycol (TEG)

Triethylene Glycol

“The gold standard of gas dehydration: the powerful glycol that protects pipelines and ensures energy flow.” Arnico’s Triethylene Glycol (TEG) is the industry’s premier desiccant for natural gas processing, trusted for its powerful water-absorbing capability and exceptional thermal stability. In the critical dehydration units of refineries and gas plants, our TEG works tirelessly to strip moisture from raw gas, preventing pipeline corrosion and hydrate formation. It’s the reliable, high-boiling guardian that ensures the safe and efficient flow of energy.
Description More

1. Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Triethylene Glycol (TEG) is a clear, colorless, viscous liquid with a high boiling point from the glycol family. This substance, thanks to its extremely strong hygroscopic properties and thermal stability, is recognized as the gold standard in the natural gas dehydration process in refineries and gas platforms, where it strips moisture from the gas down to a very low dew point.

2. Technical Specifications

3. Features & Benefits

  • Exceptional Dehydration Efficiency: The ability to lower the water dew point of natural gas to -40°C or lower, preventing pipeline corrosion and hydrate formation.

  • High Thermal & Chemical Stability: Resistant to degradation at the regeneration temperature of the distillation column (200°C), minimizing glycol losses.

  • Very Low Vapor Pressure: Negligible evaporative loss in the absorption tower, reducing operational costs.

  • Low Hydrocarbon Solubility: Minimal absorption of aromatic compounds from the gas stream, reducing environmental contamination.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Refineries & Gas Processing: The primary agent in Glycol Dehydration Units for sweet and sour natural gas dehydration.

  • Petrochemical Industry: A solvent in the extraction of aromatics (BTX) and a heat transfer fluid.

  • Air Sanitization: The active ingredient in hospital and industrial air sanitizing fogging solutions.

  • Textile & Adhesive Industry: A softener and lubricant for fibers, and a base for specialty solvents.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This substance has low acute toxicity, but prolonged skin contact or ingestion can be harmful. Its hot vapors are irritating to the eyes. The Arnico MSDS file is available.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in clean, sealed stainless or carbon steel tanks in a dry, cool place. Due to moisture absorption, tank lids must be tightly closed.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): When decanting and sampling, the use of chemical-resistant gloves and safety goggles is recommended.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

Arnico TEG shipments are accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing purity, water, and a precise GC analysis
