1. Product Introduction & Main Application
Arnico’s Nitric Acid is a strong, highly corrosive, and oxidizing mineral acid with white fumes, supplied as a clear liquid in various commercial concentrations. Acting as a nitration and oxidation agent, this substance plays a strategic role in the production of nitrate fertilizers (e.g., Ammonium Nitrate), industrial explosives, and in the pickling and passivation of stainless steel.

3. Features & Benefits
-
Unrivaled Oxidation & Nitration Power: The ability to perform aromatic nitration reactions with high efficiency and speed for the production of nitro compounds.
-
Metal Passivation: Creates a protective oxide layer on the surface of stainless steel, making it immune to subsequent corrosion.
-
A Pure Nitrogen Source: Provides the nitrogen required for the production of a wide range of solid nitrate-based chemical fertilizers (CAN/AN).
-
Concentrated 98% (White Fuming) Form: Ideal for the production of strategic materials and reactions where the presence of water significantly reduces yield.
4. Industrial Applications
-
Fertilizer & Petrochemical Industry: The primary raw material in the production of ammonium nitrate, NPK fertilizers, and adipic acid.
-
Military & Mining Industry: The nitration agent in the manufacture of industrial explosives (ANFO) and propellants.
-
Metallurgy & Stainless Steel: Pickling and cleaning the surface of steel sheets and welds, and the passivation process.
-
Electronics & Chemical Industry: Etching copper on electronic circuit boards and manufacturing reagents and nitrate salts.
5. Safety & Handling
-
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): Nitric acid is severely corrosive and a powerful oxidizer. Its vapors (NOx) are highly toxic and react explosively with organic materials. A thorough study of the Arnico MSDS is vital.
-
Storage Conditions: Store exclusively in 304L or 316L stainless steel tanks, in a completely cool, strongly ventilated environment, and strictly away from any flammable and organic materials (including oil, grease, and solvents). Sunlight must be avoided.
-
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): When handling, the use of full acid-resistant clothing, boots, Viton gloves, and a full-face respirator with a specific acid gas and NOx canister is mandatory.
6. Quality Assurance & COA
Arnico Nitric Acid shipments are always accompanied by a COA detailing the density and exact titrated concentration, ensuring that sensitive nitration and fertilizer production processes are carried out with high stoichiometric precision.
