Description More

1. Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Acrylic Styrene is a milky-white, water-based copolymer emulsion produced by the polymerization of acrylate monomers with styrene. This versatile resin, due to its ability to form a clear, hard, and water-resistant film, is recognized as the primary binder in the production of semi-gloss architectural paints, decorative coatings, and paper adhesives, serving as the bridge between quality and economic efficiency.

3. Features & Benefits

  • Excellent Gloss & Abrasion Resistance: Creates a hard, durable film that is resistant to washing and scrubbing, enhancing the visual appeal of the final paint.

  • Superior Adhesion to Porous Surfaces: Deep penetration and strong bonding to plaster, concrete, and wood, preventing paint peeling.

  • Excellent Water & Alkali Resistance: No color change or film degradation in humid environments or on alkaline substrates like fresh plaster.

  • Ideal Performance-to-Price Ratio: An economical alternative to 100% acrylic resins, while retaining the key properties of a high-quality coating.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Architectural Paint Industry: Primary binder in interior semi-gloss plastic paints, exterior wall coatings, and architectural primers.

  • Adhesive Industry: Production of tile adhesives, wood glues, paper adhesives, and cardboard manufacturing.

  • Industrial Wood Coatings: Water-based sealers and clear coats for furniture and wooden doors.

  • Printing & Packaging: A glossy, abrasion-resistant coating on cardboard boxes.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This product is water-based and non-flammable, but prolonged skin contact may cause dryness and irritation. The complete MSDS file is available upon request.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in sealed plastic containers, away from freezing conditions and direct sunlight, at a temperature between +5°C and +35°C. Avoid storage in uncoated metal containers.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): The use of rubber gloves and safety goggles is recommended during handling.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

All Arnico Acrylic Styrene shipments are provided with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) including precise testing for solid content, viscosity, and minimum film formation temperature (MFFT). This allows paint and adhesive formulators to have a product with repeatable properties in every production batch.
