Description More

1. Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Sodium Carbonate, commercially known as Soda Ash, is a white, crystalline powder or granular material that is alkaline and water-soluble. This foundational and high-volume basic chemical serves as a strong source of sodium ions and a pH regulator, holding an irreplaceable position in the glass manufacturing, detergent production, and water treatment industries, forming a cornerstone of many global manufacturing processes.

2. Technical Specifications

Technical Parameter Dense Grade Light Grade Unit
Purity (as Na₂CO₃) ≥ 99.5 ≥ 99.2 %
Bulk Density 1.0 – 1.2 0.5 – 0.7 g/cm³
Residue on 180 µm Sieve ≥ 85 ≤ 5 %
Sodium Chloride (NaCl) ≤ 0.3 ≤ 0.5 %
Iron (Fe) ≤ 20 ≤ 40 ppm
Water Insoluble Matter ≤ 0.05 ≤ 0.1 %

3. Features & Benefits

  • Consistent & High Alkalinity: Provides excellent and predictable pH adjustment power in industrial formulations without fluctuation.

  • Two Engineered Grades: Dense Grade with dust resistance for glass furnaces; Light Grade with rapid dissolution for detergent industries.

  • Purity & Clarity: Extremely low iron and impurity content, essential for producing ultra-clear glass without discoloration.

  • Water Softening: Effectively precipitates calcium and magnesium ions, enhancing detergent performance.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Glass Industry: The primary supplier of sodium oxide in the batch formula for manufacturing container glass, automotive glass, and bottles.

  • Detergent Industry: A key builder component in laundry powders and industrial cleaning agents.

  • Water Treatment: pH adjustment and temporary hardness removal in industrial water production systems.

  • Metallurgy & Mining: Acts as a flux in metal smelting and as a processing aid in lithium and uranium ore leaching.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This material causes severe eye and skin irritation upon contact, and its dust is a respiratory tract irritant. Please study the Arnico MSDS for complete first-aid information.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in a completely dry, cool, and well-ventilated area, away from acids and moisture. It is highly hygroscopic and hardens upon contact with water. Bags must be stored on wooden pallets, away from walls and floors.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): When handling, the mandatory use of a dust mask (P2), splash-proof chemical goggles, and long rubber gloves is required.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

All Arnico Sodium Carbonate bags, traceable to their production code, are provided with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) including a precise particle size analysis and weight percentage of sodium oxide. This ensures glass manufacturers and detergent producers can load with complete confidence.

Technical documents for the product Sodium Carbonate including the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA), are available to customers upon request.
