Carbon Molecular Sieve

“The beating heart of nitrogen generation plants; more than an adsorbent, it’s nanoscale engineering.” With its advanced Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS) featuring a precisely controlled pore structure, Arnico pushes the boundaries of gas separation. This is a product that not only delivers nitrogen purity up to 99.999% but also minimizes the operational costs of industrial plants by optimizing energy consumption. Consistent performance, structural stability, and unrivaled efficiency—this is the Arnico signature in critical industries.
Description More

Product Introduction & Main Application

Arnico’s Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS) is an engineered carbonaceous adsorbent with a precisely controlled pore size distribution at the angstrom level, designed for gas separation based on molecular size discrimination. This material is specifically engineered for the production of high-purity nitrogen from compressed air in Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) systems, serving as the primary choice for supplying inert gas across a wide range of industries.

3. Features & Benefits

  • Superior Oxygen Selectivity: The precisely engineered pore structure enables a higher adsorption rate for oxygen compared to nitrogen, guaranteeing the production of ultra-high-purity nitrogen.

  • Extended Operational Service Life: Excellent mechanical strength and minimal dust formation significantly increase the lifespan of the adsorbent and protect downstream filters from clogging.

  • Optimized Operating Pressure: Designed for efficient performance at lower operating pressures, directly contributing to reduced energy consumption in air compressors.

  • Moisture Resistance: Possesses a robust structure resistant to moisture-induced degradation, ensuring stable and consistent performance over the long term.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Food & Beverage Industry: Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) and nitrogen injection processes to extend the shelf life of perishable food products.

  • Electronics Industry: Providing an inert atmosphere for wave soldering and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) reflow processes to prevent unwanted oxidation.

  • Chemical & Petrochemical Industries: Blanketing storage tanks, inerting reactors, and facilitating the safe transfer of flammable materials.

  • Metallurgy & Heat Treatment: Processes such as carburizing, nitriding, and bright annealing of various metals.

5. Safety & Handling

  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): This product is non-flammable; however, its dust may cause respiratory sensitization. The complete MSDS file is available upon request from Arnico support.

  • Storage Conditions: Store in tightly sealed containers in a dry, cool environment, away from moisture, oil, flammable gases, and direct sunlight. Exposure to rain must be strictly avoided.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): When charging or discharging PSA vessels, the use of an approved dust mask (such as N95) is recommended.

6. Quality Assurance & COA

Arnico provides all shipments of Carbon Molecular Sieve with a dedicated Certificate of Analysis (COA), which includes a nitrogen performance curve across various purity levels (from 99% to 99.999%). This ensures our clients achieve maximum efficiency from their PSA systems.

Technical documents for the product Carbon Molecular Sieve including the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA), are available to customers upon request.
